There is Nothing

In my devotions this morning, I came across
this poem and thought about God's faithfulness.

Do we count God faithful when the showers
of blessing don't seem forthcoming?

Elijah did.

"There is nothing"- though the raindrops
needed sorely and so long
Have been promised by Jehovah,
by the Father true and strong.
And the sky is blue and cloudless,
and the earth is parched and dry,
Yet no showers are forthcoming
 from the reservoir on high.

"There is nothing"- but the prophet knows
 and trust his Master's word;
He is not a senseless idol,
but the mighty powerful God.
He has seen His wondrous working,
 he believes Him faithful still;
So he humbly waits in patience
for Jehovah's simple will.

"There is nothing"- oh, how often
 doth the enemy declare,
Nothing for your constant wrestlings;
nothing for your cries and tears.
And the faithless heart says "Nothing,"
though deceived she ne'er has been,
For the little cloud so longed for,
at the seventh time is seen.

"There is nothing"- but there shall be:
God is still the Great "I AM."
He is NOW Almighty, faithful,
and forevermore the same;
And the tears, and cries, and wrestlings,
have recorded been on high;
Not forgotten , nor neglected,
to be answered by and by.

Random Post

Ok, so I'm just posting something random
to check if the blog/google + is working
properly because of some issues.

Oh, and also because I am very random;)

Western Queensland Trip

We recently took a trip to Western Qld to visit
family and as usual, I took a lot of photos.

So, I have chosen some of them and put them together
in a 10 minute slideshow for those interested.

For those with ADHD or a short attention span,
feel free to skip watching it, as I'll never know anyway!

It does have cool music and a great poem
to listen to as you watch,
if that's any incentive!

On another subject,
does anyone else have this problem?

And for those who can't relate
to coffee related quotes,
here's one for you.

YOUTH GROUP

Well, last night we had our first
youth group with the younger kids
from age 5 and up!

This was so exciting as we were
able to bring along 9 from our neighbourhood
which amounted to 22 kids total at
Youth Group, plus 5 leaders!

Our old bus of 704 000 kms was full
and overflowing! Praise God!!

We had a great time and so did the kids.
We are praying about whether the Lord
wants us to keep this age group going as
there seems to be a lot available in Katherine
for the over 10 year olds, but nothing
for the younger ones.

Currently, we have Youth Group for
ages 10 - 17 and the plan is for a once
a month treat for the younger ones to attend.

The Lord blessed and the kids were very
well behaved and no one got hurt!
(Despite Cam being in charge of games)

I have uploaded a short video below
of some of the action.

Because of the length, I had to resize it
so it is better to watch it small as
it gets fuzzy when you make it big.

In totally other news, your
cute 'AWWW' factor for the day:

We have 3 new kittens living downstairs
thanks to Emilee's ability to attract
every stray cat in the neighbourhood,
by feeding them daily.

At any time there may be 7 or 8 cats
lying around our yard, or under a car
or in a hidey hole somewhere.

Dave is threatening to relocate them all!

HYMNS AND ROSES

Well, I have done some research and
discovered how to make my videos smaller
so they don't take so long to upload!!

So I have uploaded a couple more hymns.
If you're interested to read the description,
I have the lyrics to the hymn and also
who wrote it and possibly a link to the origin
of the hymn. There are some amazing stories
of how certain hymns came to be written.

They weren't written for some album
or for some manager or for someone to make
famous, they were truly written from the heart
and often after very difficult circumstances.

Here are the links:

I have also been trying to learn how to use my
new macro lens and yesterday bought
myself some beautiful red roses to hone my skills.

For some reason, the colours and intricate detail
don't come out on the blog like they do in real life,
and on my computer :(
Guess you'll just have to imagine.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY EMILEE

It's Emilee's 15th birthday today.
And yes, she keeps reminding me that its only
one year til she can drive!

Aaggh!! A one-eyed driver!
A real test of the fear factor.

And, here's a picture of Chloe

She turned 12!

And a special "cat" quote especially for Emilee
It suits us all around here:)

ABBI'S NEW CAR UTE!!!

Abbi finally was able to buy her 'dream' machine!
An old 40 series Landcruiser ute!
Go Toyota!!

Ok, so it needs a little work but it is
registered, just needs a bit of TLC.
It'll be a work in progress for us all!
Mainly Dave:)

Dave is madly jealous of it, as we all are,
but maybe Abbi will let us drive it now and then:)

We will definitely be removing the weird leopard skin
carpet like substance that is stuck to the roof???

She definitely won't be going fast,
and she only thinks she'll be able to go anywhere!

Oh, and in case you're wondering how
she feels about her new ute......

.....About like that!!
Ok, so maybe she wouldn't put it quite like that:)

Abbi's Birthday!

It was Abbi's 17th birthday on Wednesday
so sorry Abbi, couldn't resist posting an
old photo of you:)

She requested a black forest cake
for her birthday, so I decided to put it
into a trifle bowl, as the last time I made
one, well, it collapsed before it made it to the table!

In other news, we have enjoyed some nice
showers of rain lately to help cool things down.

When it rains, it fills up the gargantuous holes in our
driveway and the neighbour kids and our girls
love to splash in them!

And my random quote for today
that I'm yet to try on the Air Force personnel here:)

Have a great day!
