A Picnic on Picnic Day

Every year, in August, we Territorians get a public holiday for Picnic Day.
Well, as it just so happens, the last time we were able to take the day off and actually go on a picnic for Picnic Day, was in August 2015!!!

(Feel free to click on the link below for that adventure)

This time is was just a short jaunt with the girls and some friends.
We went out to a place called Flat Rock (yeah, you can see why it's called that).

We explored a little, had some lunch, one of the boys threw a line in, and caught nothing, and I happily snapped photos. Then we took a dirt track back to town, a round about way, and ended our day having enjoyed a day off work and some good company.

If you're squeamish at all, please stop reading here.

If you're wondering why there is only one bright blue croc in the photo, please read on....

One of the boys cut his toe open on a sharp rock, which required stitching once we got home. But being the trooper that he is, we bandaged it up and kept exploring.

So, if you're ever over our way in August, we may or may not take a Picnic Day adventure. And it may, or may not be hundreds of kms long.

 Quick Trip to Alice

Back in July, I was able to go with Dave on a very quick trip to Alice Springs.
He was taking cattle from one station to another with 2 other trucks.

The past couple of years has seen a dramatic change in our lives and business, which has led to days apart from each other and long hours, so it was great just to have quality time together.

I'm ALWAYS up for a road trip, no matter the destination!

I got to experience what it's like to sleep in the truck with cattle on. The continual, gentle rocking of the cattle in the crates actually put me to sleep nicely:)

Beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Open road. Epic scenery.

Hope you enjoy this small glimpse into our lives here in the NT.
