...............the mice are at play

Well, last Saturday, we took Abbi, Emilee and Maddy
up to Darwin to catch the plane to Cairns
so they could go to youth camp in Malanda.

That means that Chloe and I are home alone!
(Well, in the daytime at least, while Dave's at work)

So, we've been trying to do special things together.
We've been op shopping and out for coffee
and yesterday we got to go with Dave to Timber Creek!

Chloe really enjoyed getting to ride in the sleeper
and sitting perched on the fridge in between our seats.

On this particular trip, we had to go out to the Bradshaw
training ground. This is where they send the army and
air force for training etc.

Crossing the bridge to get into the grounds

 Crossing the Victoria River

Dave breaks in (well, not really, he was given an entry code)

Looking back up the Victoria River

I just loved this sign. It's a classic!
What exactly do they mean by "anything"??

Victoria River

There is some amazing scenery out there.
You pass through these beautiful ranges where
the cliff faces are red and tower above you.

Sorry, same truck, we followed him for a while:)

All the photos were taken out the windscreen
or windows while driving, but you get the idea

Well, that's about it for now. Dave is off tonight on
his long run and this time he has to head out
to Western Desert so won't be home til Friday late.

So, Chloe and I still have a lot to do off Chloe's
"to do with mum" list, so I guess we'll keep
busy while he's away.

And I leave you with this great thought!

Some Randomness!!

We really enjoyed having friends and family
here for the wedding. There was a lot
of fun, craziness, stupidity, ping pong battles,
guitar playing, coke can fights (started by Grandpa),
bad singing, dress up lunacy, eating too much sugar,
drinking too much soft drink, teddy cuddling at Woolies (by the boys),
making sure everyone who could, got to drive in the Territory
(not necessarily at 130km/hr), staying up late,
giggling and the list goes on..........

Guest appearance from Cowboy Lollipop

And...............??????????

Doing the cowboy thing

Hanging out in our non existent lounge room

A tired truck driver and an old Grandpa

Yes, its still the same lollipop stick after 4 hours!

Goofy cousins!!

Lovely ladies in their 'petal' hats
(according to India and Emilee)

Mr Simeon Be Cool..........or not???

And for all you lovely girls out there searching for
your knight in shining armour............

Ummm........???????

Keep looking!!

After the Wedding...............

Well, after Lauren and Cam drove off into the sunset,
the ones left behind, namely the family,
set off for some adventures of our own.

The first little trip we took, was to visit
Mataranka and of course, a swim at Bitter Springs.

On our way to Mataranka, we did something
I've wanted to do since we moved to Katherine.

Dress a termite mound!!

If you make you way to Mataranka,
you will see, by the side of the road,
many termite mounds that travellers have
dressed in many different ways.

Well, I had just the dress, and we found just the anthill.

She was even already sporting a face,
thanks to some other passerby,
complete with a redback spider on her nose!

We had a great time dressing her, and as Dave
goes by there 4 times a week, he is keeping
an eye on her progress. Someone has already added
a hat, which is great, she needed one under the
scorching Territory sun!

Her name is Hilda.
So if you're passing by, stop and say hello to her for us!

We also took time to visit the old Homestead of
"We of the Never Never" fame.

Grandma and Pa were happy to be surrounded by
almost all of their granddaughters!
(Minus Lauren, Brianna and Ellia)

Here is a short video clip of swimming in the
crystal clear, Bitter Springs.
(funny, I saw some tourists drinking it to see if it was Bitter:)

The next outing was a trip out to Katherine Gorge
and a short steep walk up to the lookout
(where Cam proposed to Lauren)

Grandma even climbed to the top in her
heeled shoes!! (see video below)

A beautiful view!
(The view, I mean, not the girls)

A few shots of some of God's beautiful creation

 And another Territory day ends
with bats screeching overhead and the gentle
lapping of the water against the jetty.

(actually, maybe not so gentle when we tried to get it rocking
just to see who would squeal!)

And of course, we did the rounds of all the shops in Katherine
to prove that we actually have everything we need here
and a lot we don't!

The weather was beautiful with crisp, cool mornings which
stopped abruptly with everyone's departure.
We are now having wonderful dry, hot days
ranging between 36 and 38 degrees!
So, no more need for jackets or doonas around here!

LAUREN AND CAM'S WEDDING

Well, here it is! Our photographer, Suzie,
did an amazing job with the help of Cam's
sister, Rachel (whose photos we are yet to see).

Enjoy!

When it came to the cake, we had to be different.
I decided we needed a bogged Toyota Hilux
just for Cam's pleasure.
Complete with muddy footprints up the side!
It was a lot of fun making it!
